Sometimes his goals come on the burst; on others he controls a pass, swerves and lets rip; and then yet again, he might just run into space to meet a pass and connect with momentum.
There are a number of ways Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford will eye off a scoring opportunity. He’s a bit of a champ that way.
But it’s not everyday you here of a first-class striker thinking beyond the usual options. It can take a creative and thoughtful type to do so, and based on what we’ve seen from the football star, he seems to fit the bill.
Rashford has lodged a plan with Cheshire East Council in northwest England to create wildlife-friendly meadows and hedges around his new mansion.
The Mirror in the UK reports that the proposal will cost an estimated £2.5 million.
Big costs can make headlines, sure, but the real story is clear: Rashford wants to do his bit and has a social conscious that goes beyond a passing interest. It’s admirable that he wants to protect and enhance the environment.
So what’s the plan? Well, it’s been reported that newly arranged grass and trees will protect mammals in the area such as voles and hedgehogs. Additionally, rings of hedgerows around the property will provide a habitat for nesting birds, including robins, chaffinches, wrens and blackbirds.
Rashford has long been known for his community-based efforts and was awarded an MBE for his campaign for free meals to needy kids during the pandemic. This is a tad different and some might scoff at a star footballer wanting to build a five-bedroom mansion on the site of a former golf course, but we can only go on past performance, and thus far it’s been pretty strong.
